Special Needs Sleep Consulting
Individualized Sleep Support for Neurodivergent Children
Sleep can be challenging for any family, but when your child has additional developmental, neurological, sensory, or emotional needs, finding an approach that works can feel especially overwhelming.
Whether your child has Autism, ADHD, OCD, ODD, PDA, a Sensory Processing Disorder, an Anxiety Disorder, or other unique needs, sleep challenges can show up in many ways. Difficulty falling asleep, frequent night wakings, early mornings, bedtime resistance, and inconsistent routines can leave the entire family feeling exhausted and unsure of what to try next.
Maybe you've read the books, tried different strategies, adjusted schedules, and feel like nothing is making a lasting difference. You are not alone, and your child's sleep is not hopeless.
At Sleep Sweet Project, I believe every child deserves an approach that recognizes and respects their individual needs. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all sleep training method, we'll take the time to understand your child's sleep patterns, sensory preferences, developmental needs, and family dynamics.
Together, we'll create a personalized, realistic sleep plan using gentle, evidence-informed strategies that work with your child rather than against them. We'll establish achievable goals, move at a pace that feels appropriate for your child, and make adjustments along the way.
You don't have to navigate sleep challenges alone. I'll be your partner, providing the education, individualized guidance, and ongoing support you need to help your child develop healthy sleep habits and help your entire family get the rest you deserve.
Sleep Challenges I Can Help With
Understanding the why behind your child's sleep challenges is an important first step toward finding solutions. I provide individualized sleep guidance for families experiencing challenges such as:
Difficulty falling asleep or prolonged bedtime routines.
Frequent nighttime waking and difficulty returning to sleep.
Early morning waking.
Every child is different, and we'll look at the complete picture rather than trying to address symptoms in isolation.
Sensory sensitivities to light, sound, clothing, bedding, or temperature.
Bedtime anxiety, separation difficulties, or fear of sleeping alone.
Difficulty transitioning from activities to bedtime.
Inconsistent sleep schedules and delayed sleep patterns.
Nap resistance and difficulty transitioning between naps.
Dependence on specific routines, environments, or conditions to fall asleep.
Who I Support
I work with families of children who have a variety of developmental, neurological, sensory, and emotional needs, including:
-
Children with autism may experience differences in circadian rhythms, sensory sensitivities, difficulty with transitions, or challenges with bedtime routines. We can explore predictable routines, visual supports, sensory accommodations, and individualized sleep strategies.
-
Children with ADHD may have difficulty winding down, regulating activity levels, maintaining consistent sleep schedules, or falling asleep at an appropriate time. We'll explore sleep timing, evening routines, environmental factors, and strategies that support a smoother transition to bedtime.
-
For children who are sensitive to light, sound, textures, temperature, or movement, the sleep environment can make a significant difference. We'll consider your child's sensory preferences and identify adjustments that help create a more comfortable and calming sleep space.
-
Worries, repetitive behaviors, bedtime fears, and difficulty separating from caregivers can make sleep especially challenging. We'll work on predictable routines, supportive transitions, and gradual strategies that respect your child's emotional needs.
-
Traditional bedtime expectations and approaches may create additional stress for some children. We'll explore ways to reduce power struggles, increase predictability, offer appropriate choices, and create routines that encourage cooperation and a sense of security.
Your child does not need a formal diagnosis to receive support. If your child's unique needs are making sleep difficult, I'd love to help you explore an approach that works for your family.
